It might be, except that there's no good way to upgrade
a port.

make deinstall && make install for each port leaves something
to be desired.

Hmm, do the ports get automatically built & installed on some
FreeBSD.ORG machine periodically?  How is that done?  Or 
maybe it is part of make release?
