I had the same problem with the nvidia driver and GL screensavers. The
problem for me was that both the nvidia driver and libGL install
libGL.so:

[root@cremers ~/cvs-supfiles]# !pkg_which
pkg_which /usr/local/lib/libGL.so
[Updating the pkgdb <format:dbm_hash> in /var/db/pkg ... - 1028 packages
found (-0 +1) . done]
nvidia-driver-1.0.9746_5 libGL-6.5.3_2

The solution for me was to run

portupgrade -f libGL
