4.11 is the current production stable release which contains massive changes from 4.8 one of which is the "kernel configuration in full-screen visual mode" is not required any longer. The book you are referencing is outdated. Release 4.6 and 4.8 are no longer supported versions. The 5.3 version is brand new and still experiencing problems and is not as stable and reliable as 4.11. No need to get to close to the bleeding edge by using the 5.3 version. Follow the step by step instructions in the Install guide at this URL http://www.unixguide.net/freebsd/fbsd_installguide/index.php -----Original Message----- From: owner-freebsd-questions@freebsd.org [mailto:owner-freebsd-questions@freebsd.org]On Behalf Of Joe Parker Sent: Sunday, March 27, 2005 7:34 PM To: freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.org Subject: FreeBSD Installation I have version 4.6 and 4.8 of FreeBSD and I am having trouble getting pass a certain point.
