I have Satellite 4080XCDT with the same modem. I also noticed that the modem doesn't work in MS-DOS, only in Windows. I guess we can conclude that it's a 'winmodem' and cannot be supported by FreeBSD. I sent a question to Toshiba, but didn't get response.
