For a server you put on the Internet, 2.1.7 should be far more secure. On the other hand, 2.1.7 had some problems with the ahc (adaptec 2940) driver. If your server is heavily loaded (especially if it is a large news server), look for the updated 2.1.7 (or simply use CVSup to get the latest from the 2.1.x branch). Other than that both 2.1.5 and 2.1.7 are *very* stable.
