As a side note, I recently installed FreeBSD 2.2.2 from the diskette and
I
also found it hard to pick a server to install from (the messages at the
time were that it was unable to resolve server name, I think), but when
I
decided to just pick ftp.freebsd.org - it ran fine, averaging 3 KB/sec
on
my dial-up (I did notice that FreeBSD and my ISP appear to be on the
same
backbone)! I probably could have done a bit faster, but I limited the
serial
speed to 28,800 bps to reduce errors (old serial port/uart).

I was VERY impressed with the install process, it was very
straight-forward,
not unlike Red Hat Linux.
