There appears to be a descrepancy in the installed assembler and its info file. The info file in /usr/share/info appears to apply to the an old version of as in /usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/as. This version of as is not the one installed in /usr/bin. The assembler installed in /usr/bin appears to be the one in /usr/src/contrib/binutils/gas. Its info files are in /usr/src/contrib/binutils/gas/doc. This assembler has some features that are not described in the info files that are actually installed.
