I used to feel very strongly that PR's shouldn't be closed until they're
resolved on the stable branch.

The advent of the MFC reminder system softens my stance, but I'm still
not comfortable with immediate closure following a commit to HEAD,
because the MFC reminder system doesn't guarantee that an MFC will
occur.

You know, busses and all... ;-)
