I have enabled the lcp-echo stuff and
no crashing occurred, of course it did not work 
either, but I suspect it was because my provider
does not support the echo.

I have noticed on other systems running 2.0R that
they like to reboot a fair amount when using ppp
(I am running current), It looks like its tied to
the routing tables somehow. I once added 2 default
routes to my system then did a pppdown and
"pop", time for a bathroom break, a reboot occurs.
