From: Tom Samplonius To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: kern/52561: 5.1-BETA install fails on Dell PowerEdge 6350, but 4.8-RELEASE works Date: Fri, 6 Jun 2003 19:41:08 -0700 (PDT) I run through a few more boots, try to catch exactly where the install dies. It does finish all the probing, and start sysinstall, but drops into the kernel debugger when sysinstall is detecting hardware, somehow killing the display at the same time. I know this, since I managed to hit Scroll Lock during the window after the kernel is finished probing, and before sysinstall starts. When I unscroll lock, I can see the the "db>" prompt on the blue sysinstall screen. Unfortunately, I have not been able to scroll lock at that exaclty moment again, in order to do something useful at the "db>" prompt. I've also re-tested with 5.1-RC1. Same problem. I also tried disabling ACPI. Some problem. So 5.0, 5.1-BETA1, 5.1-BETA2, and 5.1-RC1 can not be used on a Dell PowerEdge 6350. Tom Samplonius Uniserve
