I got 2 setups one dedicated and one dialup both using the Pipeline 75 router (<$600). For the dialup one which you are looking at, I set the timeout to 3mins, if there is not outgoing or incoming activity the Pipeline automatically drops the line. Also you can set up such that it will not use the second B channel until you hit a load percentage. There by you can almost cut down you costs by half (per minute charges are per channel) when you demand is less. I have not tried a similar setup using a BSD box. But the Pipeline made my life very easy. It took me about 2 days to get it up as I didn't know anything about network configuration then. Also I have a hub to which the Pipeline is connected so everyone uses the Pipeline as the gateway. This would be a good choice for a LAN. (I had to buy a dual speed hub just to keep the Pipeline happy at 10Mbps) -Satya ----------------- Satya Devireddy satya@dspsoft.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
