The 'boot disk writer' programs overlay any info on the disk anyway, whether the disk is empty or full. (It probably won't work on an disk thats never been formatted, or has just been degaused.) I am currenlty running a web,mail,and proxy server using the Microsoft solution with the usuall overheads. Its the extended file attributes information. Format it in NT in a dos box rather than clicking a drive icon and using the format in the menu.
