You did everything right, and this is a useful data there.

Is it true that with the INVARIANTS/DIAGNOSTIC options added, your hangs
transformed into the panic ?

Do you have the core from this panic ?  I want to see the printout of *kn f=
rom
the knote_drop() frame in kgdb.

Also, could you provide the binary and recipe to reproduce the panic ?  It
might be simpler to proceed if I can re-create this locally.
