To init, not yet committed (in either branch) but soon will be.

Because it is a single line addition that I didn't want to have to
remember to come back to later.

Let me know where you want to move it and I will. I didn't seem to
see any pattern to the current grouping of variables and I missed
spotting this module at the time, so apologies for getting this wrong.
