You may want to have a look at Darwin.

Which microkernel? Perhaps L4Ka::Pistachio (http://l4ka.org/)?
It would be nice to have a {Net,Open,Free}BSD port to Pistachio
someday. At least NetBSD should be relatively easy to port.
