The website mentions Python 3.6 as a requirement. From

REQUIREMENTS

    FreeBSD 9.3-RELEASE amd64 and higher or HardenedBSD/TrueOS
    ZFS file system
    Python 3.6+
    UTF-8 locale (place into your ~/.login_conf)
