IIRC there was a message sent to -announce, which every FreeBSD user is
urged to subscribe to.

Never the less, I agree this was newsworthy.  I'd rather err on the side
of "too much" news than "too little".  There are some Linux distros that
have a weekly newsletter, fwiw.
