I am using xwd that is (I beleive) part of standard X distribution

To capture to a file:
/usr/X11R6/bin/xwd -frame -out ~/.wdump

To send to a printer:
/usr/X11R6/bin/xwd | /usr/X11R6/bin/xpr -device ps|/usr/bin/lpr
