Subject: Why do users still show up when I remove them?

I attempt to remove the entries for a user from the master.passwd and the
passwd files directly. Then, when I do a finger on the user that I removed
(after rebooting no less), the user still shows in the system. When doing a
rmuser, it says it didn't find the entry second time around.

Any thoughts?
