Hmmm not a bad suggestion, though I think you will have to put up with
the multi-extension thing.

But ok, I think we have identified a place where confusion is caused,
namely the deviation from the 8.3 name formats, specifically the use
of multiple programs to archive, compress and whatnot, which creates a
multi-extension.  Long names are likely transparent to the win-people,
more than one ext is not.
