Changing password, as root, with 5.1-RELEASE has the following output:

  doorway:~# passwd mark

  Retype New Password:

Changing passwd, as root, with the passwd command from 4.8-RELEASE
gives:

  doorway:~# /usr/sandbox/4.8-RELEASE/usr/bin/passwd mark
  Changing local password for mark.
  New password:
  Retype new password:
  passwd: updating the database...
  passwd: done

The passwd chat syntax is relied upon by applications such as samba in
order to sync passwords.
