I've included all system/machine information below as well as online links relating to what I've been able to find out about this so far. Issues: 1) No sound (at all) from the card 2) Recognized as needing "snd_emu10kx" driver in FreeBSD 8.0-RELEASE-p2 when using native oss, "oss_emu10kx1" driver when using oss4 and snd-emu10k1 when using alsa on Fedora 13 (link: http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/Emu10k1 ). I've noted that Yuriy Tsibizov said " It's based on snd_emu10k1 sound driver." (see: http://chibis.persons.gfk.ru/audigy/ ) and "I'll write correct AC97 emulator later." (see: http://freebsd.rambler.ru/bsdmail/freebsd-ports-bugs_2005/msg20913.html ). I am not sure if he has or not, as he said that back in Oct 2005, but one of my issues seems to be that AC97 interaction is not possible with this card/docking station (see: http://www.opensound.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3832&sid=17d4a62eef44f03d9c6d95c5eec6a4da&start=15#p15210 ). From a base install of PCBSD 8.0-RELEASE-p2 I have gone on to set every possible configuration of sound options in both /etc/rc.conf and /boot/loader.conf and not once has the card made a sound. When snd_hda is used outs work (have not tried capture, willing to assume that it also works). Again, in Linux (on Fedora) using alsa and the snd-emu10k1 driver the card works (albeit files of any type, even online flash based video/sound, run at +20% of normal speed but streams play "out" perfectly). One last note... in Linux/alsa Jack has a difficult time running without errors so capture/recording is futile even there. I check the card and docking station daily on winVista... it works perfectly there: 24/96 recording 6 tracks at once with no dropout, glitches or faults at all. Would, of course!, prefer to be spreading the gospel while mixing and recording in FreeBSD ... instead of dealing with windows background crap and constant drm checks sucking up cpu and adding latency :'( -em (small note about the custom kernel: everything is vanilla except that I removed all of the wifi crap. Don't use it, need it or trust it.
