Don't see why that wouldn't work

It should be fine but I'd recommend cvsupping your slightly
stale -stable src first.  If you are going to build world,
might as well do it with updated sources.

For an easy way to get cvsup going on the new install:

pkg_add ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/CVSup/cvsupit.tgz
