I guess you will have to "suffer" with higher than expected
data rates?  8-) 8-).

Actually, I think it's because the card you are using has a
different set of mappings than the firmware for which the
commands were intended, and the driver you are using (wi0)
"happens" to work with the card, despite the different firmware.
but the "magic" features don't.
