I have an Alpha server 1000A 4/266 with an NCR PCI SCSI controller, and an on-board qlogic controller. The thing is, I can't get any of the 4.1.x stable branch to install using the normal methods, for none of the devices are found, though I have 4 Seagate SCSI drives that are detected in the Alpha BIOS. Tru64 Unix 5.0 and 5.1 works fine on this machine. Also, I manually expanded the binaries from a snapshot of 5.x and the machine booted as far as possible without having the root partition mounted. It took half an hour to detect that there was no root partition to mount. Only with the discs attached to the qlogic controller did it even give me an error. When the discs were on the NCR controller, the machine froze at "waiting 15 seconds for SCSI devices to settle". I want to get this machine to work with FreeBSD! Any one have any advice, or additional questions, let me know. Thanks! John __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Thousands of Stores. Millions of Products.
