	2x P-III/866 on MSI 694D-AR motherboard, 256 Mbytes memory,
	FreeBSD 4.3,

>Description:

during boot, while kernel is writing device discovery
lines to console, system falls into kernel debugger
with the following on the screen:
ppi0: <Parallel I/O> on ppbus0
Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode

processor eflags	= interrupt enabled, resume, IOPL=0

interrupt mask = net tty bio cam <- SMP:XXX
kernel			= type 12 trap, code=0
stopped at bcmp+0x16: repecmpsl (%esi),%es:(%edi)

Kernel compiled before yesterday's cvsup works fine. Recompiled
and reinstalled new kernel to see if the fault was repeatable.
It is: the new kernel fails with the same symptoms.

This line had just been written to console from a boot -v:
"isa_compat: didn't get memory for le"

>How-To-Repeat:

Compile and boot a kernel with source from cvsup at 22Jun2001 14:22
using my kernel config file MPFW7

>Fix:
I got it to go away by removing from the kernel config file every
device not physically present, and by setting the following
options:
options MAXDSIZ="(512*1024*1024)"
options DFLDSIZ="(512*1024*1024)"
which is the amount of RAM on my MP system.

I have preserved the failing kernel and the config file that was
used to build it.
