Yes I can confirm that FreeBSD 7.x works, because PC-BSD 7.1.1 works
the only thing I can add is I have a motherboard with MCP73 based nfe nic
and that nic works fine with FreeBSD8 BETA2/amd64

What I find odd, is that on MCP55 boards the 2nd nic will work, I am
writing this Email on a
FreeBSD 8 Beta2/i386 machine. using nfe1.

Does anyone have any Ideas? I have 4 of these MCP55 based boards, and
public internet ip's
I would be willing to set someone up with root ssh access and a
firewire connection to another box.

here is a dmesg
