We have a volume, /users, composed of da1 and da4 (for about 800G of space), that when the device is unmounted, the system reboots itself. 2) Using setquota (on the above volume) causes the system (rather access to /users) to grind to a halt (with no error messages in dmesg or /var/log/messages). The only way to get out of this is a reboot of the system, which forces a fsck :-( The symptom pops up after adding a quota for myself, and then moving on to another user. 3) I'll describe the hardware setup below, but we are using a IBM eSeries server with a Qlogic FC-AL HBA to connect to a raid to store data. Using sysctl or sysinstall, after the (above) vinum volume has been mounted, causes a kernel panic and a reboot. Anybody else have experience with a QLogic ISP 2200 HBA? Our setup. IBM eSeries xServer 340 (formerly the Netfinity 4500R) * 2 1.0GHz processors (kernel is in uni-processor mode until I figure out what else the kernel config needs (simply defining SMP and APIC_IO hangs the system on boot)). * 2 Intel EtherExpress Pro/100 (fxp) cards * 1 AMD ethernet card (pcn) * 1 Qlogic ISP 2200 (isp) HBA * 1.1GB of memory * 1 9GB system disk This box is just one big monster NFS server for about 250 clients right now (SGI IRIX, IBM AIX, and RedHat Linux). We've set the following sysctl.conf variables kern.maxfiles=150000 vfs.vmiodirenable=1 Below is our kernel config Once I get a crash dump (of the running kernel below) I'll send that on. I only have one or two windows of opportunity/week to make this happen since this is a production machine.
