Difficult/impossible for me to describe how to repeat it outside of our environment since the error message is obscure and unparsable to me, and freebsd-questions was no help in narrowing it down. If you'd like, I can email the several gigabytes of data files, and the C code that was operating on them, but if the problem is a bad disk sector, you still won't be able to reproduce it. HAND.
