Hello,

I feel your pain, as I'm sure others do on the list. You aren't going to be satisfied with a "there is nothing we can do about this because" type answer. To you it sounds defeatist and like an excuse to do nothing. I agree. I have an idea I wanted to run by the list.

What if someone were to set up a simple email cgi with a form letter in the nature of:

Dear nVidia,

My name is _______. I am sending you this email because I use an operating system called FreeBSD(http://www.freebsd.org) and there does not appear to be driver support for your product because of a business decision you have made.

Currently I,

Select One:

*Own one of your _______ cards

*Own a _______ which is a compeditors card and would like to use one of your ________ cards instead

*Would like to use one of your _____ cards when it is supported

Please consider developing your own drivers for FreeBSD, opening the source code to your drivers, or releasing the hardware specifications to your hardware so eager FreeBSD coders can make drivers for our operating system. You'd be making a rapidly growing culture of computer users that like playing games and doing high end graphics work very happy. Very many of us would be very happy to use your superior products with our operating system of choice.

Thank you.

Joe FreeBSD User

Have them numbered in the subject so nVidia has an instant idea how many people are effected. It would be important that we don't sound like depraved zealots like some other operating system fans have in the past when doing a letter writing campaign.

Any thoughts? I know that I'm worried I won't be able to play Doom3 when it finally comes out. I'm a big fan of the ID software series. Speed with tribes2 would be nice also. Please let me know what you think. I know I'd gladly do my best to set something like this up, or visit the URL and take the time to fill in the blanks if someone else posts it. I'm sure someone is going to say it won't do any good, but I don't think it could hurt. Doing nothing always seems to have this way of looking a lot like doing nothing.

Best Regards,
