You were correct to send this to freebsd-doc, since whoever is responsible is likely to see it there. Also, the other members of the documentation team will be glad to see that someone not only uses the documentation but appreciates it enough to write and say so! It's hard to work in a vacuum. People who contribute to FreeBSD, whether it's documentation, ports, or whatever, don't always get the feedback they need to know that it's worth doing. Feedback from newbies is particularly valuable, and rare. Being a newbie is a highly specialised skill :-) If you see something that you really like, particularly if it works for you as a newbie, it always helps to write to the person and let them know.
