Hi

I'm trying to install FreeBSD 4.0-RELEASE on this Alpha axppci33 I have
here. The install is fine, but when I try to boot off the hard
disk it hangs.

AXPpci33 Common Console X4.7-1860, built on Nov 1 1996 at 06:00:01
>>>show device
dka0.0.0.6.0 DKA0 QUANTUM LPS540S 5900
dva0.0.0.0.1 DVA0
ewa0.0.0.8.0 EWA0 00-40-05-42-B6-44
pka0.7.0.6.0 PKA0 SCSI Bus ID 7
>>>boot dka0
(boot dka0.0.0.6.0 -flags a)
block 0 of dka0.0.0.6.0 is a valid boot block
reading 15 blocks from dka0.0.0.6.0
bootstrap code read in
base = 110000, image_start = 0, image_bytes = 1e00
initializing HWRPB at 2000
initializing page table at 102000
initializing machine state
setting affinity to the primary CPU
jumping to bootstrap code
Loading /boot/loader

[hang]

Now, the cute bit is that the loader doesn't detect dka0, ie

ok lsdev
disk @ 0x2001f140
    disk0: SRM drive DVA 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
ok

If I boot the kernel off floppy it will happily boot root off da0
and go into multi-user mode.

Has anyone got any clues? I'm new to FreeBSD-alpha stuff. I've searched
the freebsd-alpha list archives for signs of loader breakage but I couldn't
find anything that would cause this.

Please reply CC'ed to me as I'm not on the list (but I guess I'll be getting
on it real soon. :)

Thanks,

Adrian
