No dice.  I deinstalled QT, reupgraded qmake, and still can't install
qt-3.2.3.  It fails with the same error.  I just ran make clean
distclean and we'll see if that helps, but I doubt it will.

I'm beginning to think it's time to backup my data and blow my laptop
away.
