I have. And probably it won't ever be finished in 4.x, but still for 
some not too complicated purposes I believe it's quite save. After some 
months of testing we found no problems with mount_null, as long as we use
only -ro mounts or as in the above case just one rw mount at a time.

I probably should have mentioned this in my first answer though.
