My suggested workaround still works flawlessly. When started "later" ipfw d=
oes
not crash here. The machine now is up for weeks without any problems and it
also comes back up alive after a reboot.
So I did not investigate any further during the last weeks.
But if you tell me to try out some new changes, I will.

Sadly, here is no L2 filtering going on at all.
