I filed a PR (kern/31445) last night (from my home account) about /dev/audio
truncating sounds. It can be exercised with cat, and occurs on at least
2 very different sound cards, so the problem seems to be in the generic
code. I think this is an easy one for someone who knows the sound
driver data structures to close, so I'm mentioning it here in case
someone has time to hunt low-hanging fruit. I'm certainly happy to help
isolate the problem further.
