Endsley" Subject: booting with CD vs media type Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Sender: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG I am missing some fundamental step for installing 3.0-R from cdrom. I can boot 3.0 from the cd by using 1:wd(0,a)kernel at the boot prompt. When I configure everything, I make sure the irq/dma, etc. is all correct. When everything is set under the /stand/sysinstall screen (I mainly do custom), and go to the media screen, my cdrom isn't recognized (Mitsumi 32x). I tried going to another VT and mounting it, but that doesn't help. What am I missing? If the system boots with the cd, shouldn't it be recognized later? Thanks, Mike __________________________________________________________ What part of the term 'operating system' doesn't Bill Gates get? OS of CHOICE?
