(I think you're agreeing with what I wrote, actually, although I
omitted the "use TERM=xterm-color" on FreeBSD step.)

So, should we:

- Change the XFree86 ports so that app-defaults/XTerm sets the terminal
  type to xterm-color, and
- Put something in the Handbook about "what do I do when I log in to my
  Sun and it complains about xterm-color", describing .ssh/environment
  etc.?
