Not possible.  Voluntary cessation of breathing, even if prolonged, can only
result in unconsciousness, and once unconsciousness ensues, normal breathing
resumes.

What compels you to believe that?

Perhaps these "others" will speak for themselves, instead of allowing you to
speculate on how they feel.
