I suggest a different approach:
- "kldload /boot/kernel/snd*"
- "cat /dev/sndstat"
- have a look at the output and search for snd_XXX
- add 'snd_load=3D"YES"' and 'snd_XXX_load=3D"YES"' to /boot/loader.conf
