I've been playing Quake (Linux quake.x11 1.0) for a long while on my FreeBSD
system with the -nosound option. But now I've actually dropped the $10 on
speakers for my system :) and when I try to get sound now, I get an error:

Sound Initialization
PackFile: ./id1/pak0.pak : gfx/conback.lmp
/dev/dsp: Invalid argument
Sound driver too old
S_Startup: SNDDMA_Init failed.
Segmentation fault

I'm running linux_lib 2.6 and FreeBSD 2.2.7-STABLE (from 2 weeks ago) and the
old snd0 code (sb 16 sound card). I've tried the pcm0 code, but it does not
allow for dma, or so I've read.

Any ideas on how to make it work with sound? (Or I can just ignore it, and go
silent some more!)

Patrick
