Hi...

echo "ath1" > /dev/ttyp1 &
hangs.
doing
set line /dev/ttyp1
in ckermit hangs on an os call (line in use?).
cu -l ttyp1
"Connect"'s, then when i press a key, gives a read/write error and
"Disconnect"'s.

I have FreeBSD 2.0.1-RELEASE running on an Amibios 386 generic.
Ttyp1 is a USR internal modem. The modem works reliably with DOS com
ware. Ive tried both com0/irq4 and com1/irq3,
and the kernel always recocnizes it (with an sio message on boot).
Ive tried the original configs, and dozens of changes to /etc/ttys,
including no entry at all. The modem has cts/rts. I do all of this
as root. When i had the modem as com0 i tried using /dev/ttyp0 (and p1!).
Durings the month+ i have been stuck on this i have tried also NetBSD,
which has exactly the same problem. I have tried FreeBSD on a differnt
machine/modem.

I can only fathom this being either a serious BSD bug which was inexplictly
overlooked, or a grey area that the manual pages miss (which i have read),
that i am expected to know.

Off the top of your head, what should i do next?
Sources?

Gur. Thanks alot. Cheers.
