All it does is prevent building the profiled versions of the libraries: look in /usr/lib and you'll see for example libc.so and libc_p.so - the _p version is the profiled version. The only problem I can see with disabling it using WITHOUT_PROFILE is that unless you remove the _p libraries they'll become stale over time. -- Bruce Cran
