Indeed.  I was just about to sit down and write a long email about
the symlink stuff when my brain decided to remember what this thread
was about :)

The PKGNAME->PORTNAME/VERSION is definitely a good idea, and I'll
do whatever I can to help convert things over.

My only question is whether we should take this opportunity
(since we're going to be touching every single port Makefile)
to do some other cruft cleanup...  like removing all of the
comments at the top..  maybe that's too draconian, but I really
don't see the point in having them there.. it's not like they're
all over the rest of the tree.

Since this is a big change, I think it's worthy of an announcement
saying that things may be a little on the unstable side in
-ports land for a while -- it might help to cut down on the
number of "Hey! You broke all my ports!" messages...
