Did it give you any errors?  Or just spin?  Did you write the file to
/etc/XF86Config or somewhere else?  Did you set the symbolic link to your
xserver?  (Most of these are options to XF86Setup.  

Since you ran XF86Setup, you ran X, so you know it works!
