TMPDIR=/var/tmp START=1 END=$(( $START + $STEP - 1 )) while test $START -lt 300000 do svnlite log --xml -r $START:$END -v ~/src/freebsd-base > $TMPDIR/bla.xml bin/xml2json.py > $TMPDIR/commits.$START-$END.json gzip -f $TMPDIR/commits.$START-$END.json START=$(( $START + $STEP )) END=$(( $START + $STEP - 1 )) done So $TMPDIR/bla.xml is overwritten every iteration. Well: - If $TMPDIR=/var/tmp which is on UFS the script works. - If %TMPDIR=/tmp which is tmpfs the xml2json.py script very often gives errors about the XML structure of bla.xml like if the file is truncated or empty. So it looks like something is happening on tmpfs that the data is not yet 'synced'. Can this be a threading/cpu-cache issue on aarch64? This is on an RPI3B+. FreeBSD rpi3 12.0-ALPHA5 FreeBSD 12.0-ALPHA5 #5 r338616: Wed Sep 12 22:23:05 CEST 2018 builder@rpi3:/data/src/obj-head/data/src/head/arm64.aarch64/sys/GENERIC-NODEBUG arm64 Can I do more testing or provide more information before creating a PR about this? Didn't find something obvious within the same process (that does `zil_commit_impl` in one thread). The committing process is Buildbot, and I= saw that it happened during a nightly run of periodic scripts (which go through whole filesystem). Now I have to reboot the instance... That's why a non-destructive debugging method might be more helpful to see what other interlock we have between processes/threads. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-fs@freebsd.org Sat Oct 27 03:02:24 2018 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-fs@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8E4A110D431C for ; Sat, 27 Oct 2018 03:02:24 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 46CAF787CB for ; Sat, 27 Oct 2018 03:02:13 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 0BE5C10D4307; Sat, 27 Oct 2018 03:02:13 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: fs@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id EED5410D4306 for ; Sat, 27 Oct 2018 03:02:12 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 69C91786F6 for ; Sat, 27 Oct 2018 03:01:51 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 8B9069B3F for ; Sat, 27 Oct 2018 03:01:50 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id w9R31oO1028907 for ; Sat, 27 Oct 2018 03:01:50 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id w9R31oUj028896 for fs@FreeBSD.org; Sat, 27 Oct 2018 03:01:50 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: fs@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 229614] ZFS lockup in zil_commit_impl Date: Sat, 27 Oct 2018 03:01:50 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: 11.2-RELEASE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Many People X-Bugzilla-Who: allanjude@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: In Progress X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: Normal X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: allanjude@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: mfc-stable11?
