I think to have found the root cause: apache2 ports use an old bundled 
pcre library and mod_php picks up such wrong library. I'm working with 
clement to fix this issue, in the meantime as temporary fix you can 
modify the php5 port to use the bundled library, or select the pcre port 
from the apache2 options menu.
