Thanks, I stand corrected.  Perhaps that should be mentioned in the man
page ?  Currently, it says this :

IMPLEMENTATION NOTES
     The FreeBSD implementation of sendfile() is "zero-copy", meaning that it
     has been optimized so that copying of the file data is avoided.
