I asked this same question recently, but in the context of having
discovered that a Linux BusLogic FlashPoint LT driver is about to be
released.  See

and a string of messages in the freebsd-hardware mailing list with a
subject of "BusLogic FlashPoint drivers?".  I think the basic upshot is
that folks are thinking about it and it appears to be possible now.
