Yes, and we have also experimented with different sizes and different LUN-numbers (> 16, < 16). The Beast can see the card on the host. A point perhaps worth mentioning is that there exists a SAN-switch between the host and the Beast. --Ingeborg From owner-freebsd-scsi@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Aug 9 11:54:11 2007 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-scsi@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id AB26716A417 for ; Thu, 9 Aug 2007 11:54:11 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from nico-freebsd-scsi@schottelius.org) Received: from denkbrett.schottelius.org (natgw.netstream.ch [62.65.128.28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5928E13C442 for ; Thu, 9 Aug 2007 11:54:11 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from nico-freebsd-scsi@schottelius.org) Received: by denkbrett.schottelius.org (Postfix, from userid 1000) id CDC2D1A868B; Thu, 9 Aug 2007 13:37:09 +0200 (CEST) Date: Thu, 9 Aug 2007 13:37:09 +0200 From: Nico -telmich- Schottelius To: freebsd-scsi@freebsd.org Message-ID: <20070809113709.GA14600@schottelius.org> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha1; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="LQksG6bCIzRHxTLp" Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: echo $message | gpg -e $sender -s | netcat mailhost 25 X-Unix-Info: http://unix.schottelius.org/ X-Netzseite: http://nico.schottelius.org/ X-System-Info: denkbrett running Linux 2.6.22.1-rsbac-denkbrett on i686 Subject: Porting mpt-status to FreeBSD? I just found mpt-status in Linux and wondered how much work it would be to have a simlar functionality in FreeBSD. I was thinking about some possible ways: - porting mpt-status + kernel code from Linux to FreeBSD (as in rewrite, because GPL !=3D BSD) =3D> Much work I guess - Modifying FreeBSD's mpt to export same information in same format =3D> Should be possible, if the mpt drivers already knows about the status - Create freebsd-mpt-status tool that reads freebsds mpt driver information, if already available =3D> Sounds like the best solution for me So my questions now are: - Is the needed information (online drives, status of arrays) already in th= e driver? o If not, did anyone try to use the information from the Linux driver to= make mpt from FreeBSD know the same information? o If yes, is the needed information exported to userspace somewhere? New data point: We moved the card to a machine running CentOS with drivers from Qlogic and experienced no problems in finding the drive, making partitions etc. I guess this means that there are no HW or wiring problems and that the problems lies within the isp(4) driver.
